Sounds of rain

     Staccato taps syncopate
           justification on your cautious hood.

                          A gentle timpani high hats
                                         symbolic fresh leaves.

      Light spots accord
           exploratory splashes with warm tarmac,
                     to lift
                        a pavement’s promise
           of midsummer play.

                Splatter damps bless small world
                                              hazards
                                   on the fly.
                                           Want to,
                                                    want to
                                       but do not,
                                                        touch.

           Needle storm arrows batter
                      phalanxes of tight slate ridge.
                                           First floor, arms crossed,
                                                     eyes sheltered, she dreams.
                                Storm silenced,
                                     at rest,
                                   rainy
                                      season
                                           serened.

                                                                        drip .
                                                                                 .
                                                                                 .  plash
                                                                                 .
                                                                                 .  relief
