It seems to take about two weeks
To begin to frame a little gap.
To clear the space, and find the spot,
To divine a path between power and pipage,
Excavate the patina of plaster and papered pasts,
Perhaps even extract a brick or two to expose a
Tantalising blink of different beyond.
Two weeks to be ready to begin to frame
An undefined aperture of hinted imagination.
A window maybe or, who knows, even a door?
A fortnight to arrive at that point of starting.
Too long, or not long enough,
As tomorrow it is time to return to all the
Busy business of busy busy work.
Aye, time to down tools again.
But don’t forget: mind the gap.
