Galilean Deer

Alan MacKenzie Photography

A tiny constellation
Of four powder-puff behuechs
Bounce up Ironside’s knaps.

Brilliant white cotton bums
Dip and rise, skip and moon,
Through phase and anti-phase.

Until the rising hill’s
Horizon covers their retreat,
And all the stars are set.
